Notice I said nothing about gender. In fact, only one author (me, Gamer-girl) is guaranteed to be female. We anticipate having plenty of male readers and writers. Gamer-girl.org is simply intended as a site in which people can exchange reviews, ideas, and confessions related to the video game industry. Video games are not a fad or a waste or a niche - games are a medium, worthy of inspection, discussion, and dissection.
Our staff list at present includes:

So, in 2004, a foolish girl thought she'd make a gamer review site staffed entirely by girls. Well, so it wasn't that foolish - it cycled through about 20 or so different female reviewers, each with different (and often diametrically opposed) tastes. We had the RPG girls, the FPS girls, the casual girls, the fangirls, etcetera. But it was a volunteer effort, which naturally involves a good amount of unreliable support. Many of the reviewers didn't check in for months, and with the editor's college curriculum getting more difficult, there were gaps in updates. After a few years of this on-again-off-again cycle and a slow but steady growth in readership, down it went in winter of 2006. And by down, I mean down like a missile. Kaboom. No survivors.
It only took a year for nostalgia to creep back in. I have to give kudos to the other sites - womengamers.com, gaminatrix.com, gamegirladvance, etc etc, and I really do respect their writers and editors. They're doing great things. But sometimes you prefer Kotaku to BBC. Sometimes you jam in your friend's garage and don't go to a concert. We have a voice all our own, and we hope you'll join our little community with enthusiasm.
